My submission for the cookbook

Category: Casseroles (I guess)

Recipe: Daddy's Deceptive Meat Tacos
("Seriously, there isn't any rice in it!")

A favorite meal that daddy can usually make all by himself when feeling desperate or vengeful. Feeds a family of four, as long as two of them are little kids that don't eat much, and your dogs don't get to it first.

1 lb ground beef
1 cup water
1 packet taco seasoning
1/4 to 1/2 cup dehydrated Cheese & Broccoli soup mix
Burrito size tortillas
Some cheese
A tomato or two
Maybe some lettuce

Brown hamburger (not by letting it sit out, but by putting it on the stove). Add water, taco seasoning, and soup mix. Bring to simmer, then turn down heat to low. Make kid set the table. Keep warm (the dinner, not the kid) until mama wakes up from afternoon nap and gets herself to the table. Serve on burrito-size tortillas with shredded cheese, diced tomatoes, and maybe lettuce. Deflect questions about ingredients with a mixture of haughtiness, minor annoyance, and deceptive shifty-eyedness. Refuse to discuss the difference between tacos and burritos.

Story (if there is one):
The quote about rice comes from the fact that the cheese & broccoli soup has little flakes of potato in it too, which don't have a chance to rehydrate fully because you add everything to the hamburger and don't use enough water. I guess you can hydrate the soup mix first, if you're a party pooper.

If you choose to rehydrate the soup mix first, use the alternate method:

Brown hamburger in a skillet. In a different pan, add water, taco seasoning, and soup mix. Simmer for 10 min, then add hamburger. Have family sit around table and sing this song to you as you serve food:

Every Party needs a Pooper,
That's why we invited you -
Party Pooper! Party Pooper!

(repeat)

Comments:
Well, this is what I have to say about that...

Change!
